Dear Tom:

I presume you are aware of these endowed chairs.  You may not know that John P. Murphy was a four-game substitute right end in 1908.  He was a prominent attorney, and elected President of the Notre Dame Alumni Association, in 1927.  He grew up in the Bay State, but spent most of his life in Cleveland.

The University of Notre Dame has received a grant of $5 million from the John P. Murphy Foundation of Cleveland, Ohio to endow three faculty chairs in the law school for scholars whose teaching and research emphasize moral and ethical values in law.
