NDLI Lifetime Service Award

Mar 25, 2020

UND Celebration was held on Saturday, March 3 at the Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip.  Live traditional Irish music was provided by The Bob Morris Irish Band and Katherine Lane, Sr. Director, Stewardship & Donor Relation, was our guest speaker.

The evening highlight was the Lifetime Service Award bestowed on Hal '56 and Claire Spencer for their countless hours of service and dedication to the Notre Dame Club of Long Island and our beloved University as active club members for more than 30 years!.  Together they have chaired numerous committees, and Hal is a valued NDLI past-president.

A recent note from Hal:

Please take a very warm thank you to the three of you and those not herein included as the Spencers are stating the obvious:  thank you all for making the evening one of those never forgotten. Guess the twenty five years never were anything but ND celebrations and joys that hundreds enjoyed, young and senior age (that is us). Remember the first gathering had Fr. Ted with us - in our hearts forever.   The ND football shirt is not to be matched by any local alum club and the fact that Claire the Bear and Duke (that is also me) were once named as St. Patrick Day honorees (Persons of the Year) is a favorite memory. Claire's pendant has been worn almost daily and gets favorable ratings 100%.                -- Thank you.  Go Irish!  Go Gold & Blue!  Hal

Congratulations to our dear friends, Hal and Claire!
