Notre Dame Fencing began as a club sport in the early 1930’s.  It became our eighth varsity sport in 1936...

It is easily our #1 winningest sport…………with a winning percentage at 89%.

Notre Dame’s Fencing Team finished second in the NCAA’s this year. 

Since 1990, Fencing has been a combined Men’s & Women’s sport.

Notre Dame has won four of these combined championships and finished second eight times.

NCAA Men’s Fencing Championships began in 1941.  Notre Dame won three of those; finishing second four times.

NCAA Women’s Fencing Championships began in 1982.  Notre Dame won one of those; finishing second twice.

These seven/eight National Championships rank Notre Dame Fencing behind only Notre Dame Football in terms of National Championships.
