Except for the Maryland game two years ago (when we stayed home for the birth our 11th grandchild, Addison Rose), Carol and I have attended every one of the Shamrock games. If you haven’t attended one, they’re great events. ND “travels” better than any other university, it’s usually a night game on NBC, the cities (San Antonio, NYC, DC, Chicago and Dallas) are fantastic venues, and we’re 5-0 in the series. Times Square (Band concert) and Yankee Stadium were absolutely spectacular!
This year ND surprisingly chose Ft. Worth as AA headquarters…fantastic decision. The “cattle” town was a great host. The band, led by an actual Ft. Worth herd of longhorns, marched down quaint Main Street from the Worthington to the Hilton where the Pep Rally was held in the plaza where JFK gave his last speech.
Fresh from his work in Mongolia, Jerry Erbach and his son, Ian, joined us for the weekend festivities.
Before the game we attended the official ND tailgater across the street from AT&T (Cowboys) Stadium. We were fortunate to be joined by Dolly Duffy ’85, Executive Director of the Alumni Association, and had an opportunity to discuss the class of ’66 web site and our upcoming 50threunion.
The game was a “barn burner” in the $1.2 billion house that Jerry built. Hope to see you at next year’s Shamrock game, wherever that may be
