About the Speakers
MIke Golic ND '85
Mike Golic is a national sports commentator, television and radio host and college football analyst. Golic is the youngest of three brothers who played football at Notre Dame between 1975 and 1986. He was a linebacker during the Gerry Faust era, serving as a team captain as a senior. Golic was a nine-year NFL veteran, playing defensive tackle for the Houston Oilers, Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins. During his seven years in Philadelphia, he began his television career with a weekly segment on the Randall Cunningham Show. He received a Mid-Atlantic Region Emmy Award for his feature "Golic's Got It." Mike Golic is a 1985 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, having majored in finance and management and is the brother of Bob Golic, who is a 1977 Notre Dame national champion and NFL football player.
Eric Hansen came to the South Bend Tribune in 1988, a year in which Notre Dame football won a national championship. He’s been jinxing the Irish ever since.
The 1983 graduate of The Ohio State University has been covering the Irish football team as the paper’s lead writer since 2005 — the birth of the Charlie Weis Era — and overall since 1997, Bob Davie’s first year as head coach. Prior to that at the Trib, he served as the Irish men’s basketball beat writer and the Big Ten beat writer, with his primary focus being Indiana and Purdue sports.
Hansen started his career at the Columbus (Ind.) Republic in 1983, with his coverage duties including volatile I.U. men’s basketball coaching icon, Bob Knight. Among his national awards are three top 10 finishes in the past 10 years for best beat writer in the country from the APSE and 15 top three finishes in the Football Writers Association of America writing contests. He’s a former Indiana Sportswriter of the Year as well.
Away from sports, Hansen spends most of his time deconstructing forts built in his living room by his six grandkids and stepping on the tiny Lego pieces they leave behind in the carpet.
Jamie Uyeyama has been covering Notre Dame football for Irish Sports Daily since 2015. A co-host on the ISD Power Hour podcast, he breaks down Xs and Os during the season and also evaluates Notre Dame recruiting targets. Jamie played defensive line at Idaho State and Simon Fraser University and has coaching experience at both the high school and college level. Coming from a football family, he is the son of a Hall of Fame high school coach who grew up around the game.
