It’s the time when the ND Women Connect Board must say farewell to members whose terms are coming to a close and excitedly welcome its newest members. Help us in thanking two of our outgoing Regional Directors, Donna Smith ‘81 and Theresa Davey ‘06, and say hello to our two newest Regional Directors, Miriam Smith ’85 and Maureen Matthias ’93.

NDWC Welcomes New Board Members

By Karen Dehais '85, Board Chair

NDWC bids a bittersweet farewell to our two outgoing board members.

Donna Smith '81
Theresa Davey '06

Donna Smith ’81 is ending her term as Florida Regional Director due to a family relocation to Cincinnati. Donna’s work ethic and wisdom will surely be missed around the NDWC board table. We’re especially grateful for the leadership role she played for In Her Own Words, an oral history project documenting the earliest days of coeducation at ND.

Theresa Davey ’06 has finished her term as East Regional Director. There’s no doubt that we will miss Teresa’s unwavering enthusiasm for NDWC, her creativity and her ready smile. We truly appreciate her leadership of our 2019 Home Again reunion gathering, where she moderated an inspiring discussion about the earliest days of coeducation at ND.

Following those departures we are excited to welcome our two newest board members.

Miriam Smith '85
Maureen Matthias '93

Miriam Smith ’85 stepped into the NDWC Florida Regional Director role. She’s a healthcare executive with great communication and project management skills. Miriam has been involved in the alumni network since graduation and is looking forward to opportunities to creatively engage alumnae.

Maureen Matthias ’93 joined NDWC as the East Regional Director. Chair of NDWC for the Central New Jersey club, Maureen brings a wide range of volunteer leadership experience and a genuine passion for connection and camaraderie.

In addition to board member transitions, as one of NDAA’s Affinity Groups, NDWC is excited to welcome a new affinity partner: the Alumni Rainbow Community of Notre Dame (ARC ND), a group dedicated to bringing together LGBTQ alumni and allies. ND Women Connect looks forward to the official launch in January 2022, and to working collaboratively with ARC to welcome and support all alumni.
