NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame Alumni Association has announced its 2019 cohort of Outstanding Clubs, honoring the local Notre Dame clubs that distinguish themselves in their ability to engage the community and advance the mission of the University. This year, that group includes the Notre Dame Club of Eastern North Carolina, recognized as the Outstanding Club in its size classification (A).

Club Awards are typically announced during the annual Alumni Association Leadership Conference. In lieu of that gathering, the Notre Dame Club of Eastern North Carolina was recognized in a video message from the Dick Corbett Head Football Coach Brian Kelly.

Eastern North Carolina continued to break its own records in 2019, reaching new heights in Young Alumni membership, overall membership, membership revenue, networking offerings, overall engagement, Catholic faith initiatives, and diversity.

Among the many successes of 2019, the club started its successful Connecting Over Coffee business networking initiative, which has fostered Young Alumni engagement by evolving into an informal mentoring program. Other engagement activities include the successful 2019 Hesburgh Lecture at the Duke University Eye Center, which attracted active and retired Notre Dame-educated doctors, and the club’s quarterly Mass and dinner initiative at the Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh. The club’s successful fan event during the Notre Dame-Duke football weekend in Durham marked the fourth straight year it has hosted Irish football fans on the road in the state.

Across the country, 223 Notre Dame Clubs serve the mission of the University within their local communities and engage alumni, parents, and friends. The Notre Dame Clubs achieve Program of Excellence due to outstanding overall programming and a demonstrated commitment to each of the Six C’s — Camaraderie, Catholic/Christian Spirituality, Communications, Community Service, Continuing Education, and Current Students — and, in doing so, they are eligible for the Outstanding Club award.
