The ND Boston Diversity Alumni group welcome all of our alumni community to join us in celebrating June as Gay Pride Month.  Even though restrictions have recently been lifted for vaccinated individuals, unfortunately most events here in Boston and around the country are still virtual.

To celebrate this year, we recommend the following events (both virtual and in-person).

“Racial + Social Justice Beyond the Dome Highlights Our Celebration of LGBTQ Pride Month – June 8, 2021 7:00pm EDT

Greg Bourke ’82 and Michael DeLeon

Racial + Social Justice Beyond the Dome” highlights our celebration of LGBTQ Pride Month by welcoming Greg Bourke ’82 and Michael DeLeon, plaintiffs in the 2015 landmark civil rights Supreme Court case for marriage equality that recognized same sex marriages across the US. We will be talking about their journey to get to the Supreme Court, what the ruling meant to them and the future for same sex couples, and Greg’s upcoming book, “Gay, Catholic, American” which is being published by Notre Dame Press. Register and tune in for what promises to be a terrific show!

Register in advance for this webinar here.  This event is sponsored by the ND Club of Pittsburgh as part of their Racial + Social Justice Beyond the Dome Talk Show Series.  Thanks to Dan Yu ’90, ’92 for hosting this series.

Boston Gay Pride “The Rainbow After The Storm” – 2021 Virtual Events

This year Boston Pride’s theme is “Rainbow After The Storm” (no explanation needed).  To commemorate June as Pride Month and the 50th anniversary of Boston Pride, a series of virtual events has been created throughout the month.  Events include the Pride Flag Raising at City Hall Plaza and the Pride Lights ceremony to honor all those lost to and affected by HIV/AIDS. More information on these events and others can be found here

Pride Night @ Fenway Park – Thursday June 10, 2021

Boston Pride and the Red Sox are delighted to announce the seventh edition of Pride Night @ Fenway Park.  Support Boston Pride and join us for our annual Pride Night at Fenway Park, Thursday, June 10, when the Red Sox battle the Houston Astros.  Note – Due to recent lifting of restriction, the club was unable to plan a formal event for this annual ND Boston Pride tradition.  However, the park is open at full capacity and is welcoming everyone for a pre-game Pride Party on the Sam Deck!  ND Boston Diversity Committee chair Jack Bergen ’77 and his husband will be in attendance if anyone wants to meet up (jack.bergen@yahoo.com).
