Letter from the Executive Director: April 17, 2025

The following message appeared in the April 17, 2025, edition of the Alumni Association’s Echoes e-newsletter.

Dear Alumni, Parents, and Friends,

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. As spring begins to take off, with the weather warming, flowers blooming, and sun (hopefully) shining, I can feel the energy start to shift in myself and those around me. There’s a joy that comes with this time of year — not only as we celebrate the ability to get outside more, but as we celebrate what Christ’s resurrection means for those of us living in a world where our jubilation can often give way to fear and uncertainty.

One of Easter’s highlights for me is attending Mass at the Basilica. My family and I had traditionally attended Easter Mass elsewhere in our early years in South Bend, hoping to avoid the big crowds, but began celebrating at the Basilica just a few years ago. If you haven’t experienced it, I highly recommend it. From the soaring music to the flowers to the gathering of the Notre Dame family on such a deeply meaningful feast day, it’s a reminder to me of the gifts we have as members of this community.

As always, I am keeping you and the entire Notre Dame family in my prayers this Easter season. May it be filled with joy and companionship, and may you feel the loving embrace of God and Our Lady, now and always.

All the best,

Dolly Duffy ’84
