The William D. Reynolds Award - 2019: Christopher E. Servant ’70
2019: Christopher E. Servant ’70

For his 44 years of service to the youth of the greater Attleboro, Mass. area, Christopher Servant ’70 is honored with this award.
After graduating from Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in English, Servant joined the United States Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. After his service ended, he made the life-changing decision to forego his acceptance to Notre Dame Law School and instead teach at his alma mater, Bishop Feehan High School, in Attleboro, Mass.
Servant rose through the ranks to become department chairman (1978-1996), advancement director (1996-2001), principal (2001-2006) and then the school’s first president (2006-2016).
Along the way, he earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching for English (1978) and a Masters in Secondary Administration (2005) and was recognized as a 21st Century Massachusetts High School Teacher of the Year (1993-94).
As chief advancement officer, principal, and president, Servant raised more than $25 million to rejuvenate Bishop Feehan. From installing Wi-Fi and upgrading the school’s physical plant to reducing class size and increasing teacher pay, Servant continued to enhance Feehan’s mission.
He and his wife, Elise, have been married 45 years and are the parents of four adult children and the grandparents of nine grandchildren.
“I am honored and humbled to receive the William D. Reynolds Award. I have been blessed with the gift of Catholic education throughout my lifetime, and I have tried my best to use that gift to give back to those who helped me be the person I am today.”
