Happy summer, alumnae! Can you believe that ND will celebrate 50 years of coeducation in just three years? At reunion this year, we launched “In Her Own Words” in anticipation of this important occasion – check out the story below to find out more about how you can share your memories and photographs (or to learn what life was like for ND’s first female undergrads). I had so much fun (and a lot of laughs) looking through my mother’s 1976 edition of the Dome and can’t wait to hear more about what it was like on campus in (and after) September of 1972.
In this issue, you’ll learn how you can participate in the Fall Shared Reading Experience – consider being a Shared Read volunteer this time. And the reviews are in: the inaugural NDWC retreat was a huge success – “The two presenters were outstanding,” “The small group discussion was wonderful” – and we’re sharing some of its thought-provoking takeaways.
This installment of Campus Conversations will introduce you to Professor Sandra Vera-Muñoz, the first woman and first Hispanic chair of Notre Dame’s Department of Accountancy, who says that the topic of sustainability in accounting is so big that she’ll be working on it until she retires. Plus read about how Mandie Landry ’00 traces her motivation to run for office back to her time on campus and learn how the women of NDWC Portland work as a committee to plan and execute engaging events.
Keep in touch – if you know an alumna, student, professor, or group that we should profile, please let me know!
