Calling all golfers! Your input requested - 30th Bishop Evans Scholarship Golf Tournament

Hello Notre Dame golfers! Although we were not able to hold our annual Bishop Evans Golf Tournament in 2020, we are in the planning stages to host the 30th Bishop Evans Scholarship Fund (BESF) Scholarship Benefit later on this year. We are all hopeful that the worst of COVID-19 will be in the rear view mirror by mid to late Summer, with more and more vaccinations accomplished and with all of us being smart and helping to prevent any further spread.

We are trying to gauge, at this point, if there is continued interest in having a golf event which - over the years - has been the major fundraiser for the Notre Dame Club of Denver's Bishop Evans Scholarship Fund. Our current plan is to move the tournament to late Summer (late July-mid August). In a typical year, we would hold the tournament in mid-June. In this way, our hope is to host an event that is both fun and safe as possible. To aid our decision-making, we request your input on the four questions listed below. Please send your thoughts and input to Bob Kelley via email at

Thank you and GO IRISH!! Bob and the BESF Golf Committee

  1. Would you be interested in playing golf this year in the time frame proposed above (late July-mid August)?
  2. Would you feel safe playing later in the Summer, assuming the Club follows all appropriate safety protocols?
  3. Would you be interested in helping the committee recruit players or sponsors and secure prizes and gifts?
  4. Which day of week would work best for you? (Background: We usually play on a Friday at the best public course that accommodates our needs. Although we would consider a Monday event at a private club, this could be significantly more expensive to host.)
