April Newsletter - Latest Updates and Virtual Events

Apr 24, 2020

Note From the Club President:

Please accept our prayers for everyone’s health and safety and that of your families at this challenging time for our country and world. Please also forgive us for being distant -- as ND recently redesigned the worldwide ND Club communications and website systems. Our goal is to give you more of an ND connection than ever!

If you have not yet, please do log in to our club’s new website at (same web address) eastnc.undclub.org. It should take you no more than 5-10 minutes or so to “Join” our club’s online community. You will need to re-create your email address and password profile. Help is available from ND’s Online Help Desk or you can email us at eastnc@alumni.nd.edu with questions or feedback. Our website volunteer team worked hours on this transition over the past several months and we are immensely appreciative of their time and expertise!

And while we are at it, CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR CLUB MEMBERS FOR OUR CLUB’S FIRST EVER NOMINATION FOR OUTSTANDING CLUB!! This is an honor bestowed by the ND Alumni Association on the best ND Clubs in the world. There are over 260 ND Clubs worldwide and ours is among the Top approximately 35 clubs! This honor is a testament to your enthusiasm, participation, volunteer hours and Dues and Scholarship support dollars.

Please stay in touch with us through email and online amidst this challenging time. Send us your photos, stories and prayers. We are all in this together. God bless and GO IRISH!

Kerrie Debbs ND ‘89
President, ND Club of Eastern North Carolina

Dial a Domer Campaign

The goal is to connect members of the ND family in Eastern North Carolina, so that we can check in on one another and fight isolation during this time of social distancing.

Joining is simple: If you would like to be paired with another Domer, fill out the registration form (your name, phone number, and email).

We will connect you with another Domer via email so that you each have each other's contact information. You are encouraged to check in with each other as little or as often as you like - talk about what you are doing during this time, your experience with Notre Dame, your life on campus (if you can remember!), ND Football then and now, or say a brief prayer together. We hope you’ll find this a fun way to connect with Eastern NC Domers and support one another during this time!

Hesburgh, the Film -- Watch by May 3rd & Group Discussion on Monday, May 4th @ 7pm ET

The documentary Hesburgh, which was released in 2019, tells the story of Fr. Hesburgh’s 35 years as president of Notre Dame and highlights his role as one of the most influential and inspiring leaders in American history. The film was recently released on several streaming platforms.

We encourage you, your family and friends to watch the film -- which is available for FREE STREAMING on Amazon Prime Video for Amazon Prime subscribers OR can be rented and viewed for as little as $3.99 or purchased for as little as $12.99 ...and watched over and over again. The film is also available to rent or buy on iTunes, Youtube, Google Play, and similar services.

Please watch the film on your own by Sunday, May 3rd.
Then, join us for a discussion of the film via Zoom video conference on May 4th at 7pm. We are arranging for a special celebrity drop-in appearance by the director, Patrick Creadon ND ‘89, during our Zoom call.

Register here. Zoom meeting info will be emailed to registrants within 1 hour of the discussion. Please email ndeastnc@alumni.nd.edu with any questions.

We hope you’ll watch this amazing film! Fr. Ted’s story offers a welcoming and reassuring distraction from the challenging times we are currently experiencing.

Student Emergency Relief Fund – The University has established a fund to assist the financial needs of ND students and their families whose lives have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as a student-led initiative allowing families who are able to have the option of donating "all or a percentage" of their room and board rebate / credit to the Student Emergency Relief Fund is now available for those of us who are able to participate.
