The calendar has turned to July and it won’t be long before our students return. Although campus has sadly been devoid of the usual summer bustle of sports camps, visitors passing through town, and of course, Reunion weekend, it has nevertheless been a busy few weeks as the University prepares to reopen. Today, and over the past couple of weeks, the University has shared a number of updates with additional details and safety procedures for students, faculty, and staff. You can stay up-to-date on all of those communications here.
This weekend, we’ll pause to celebrate the Fourth of July. Without the fireworks extravaganzas and large get-togethers that many of us are used to, it is sure to be a different holiday. Nevertheless, I hope you can enjoy a small and safe gathering with family and loved ones. Like many holidays, July Fourth has its own set of annual traditions and beloved family recipes. For our family, that always means making my mom's "cowboy beans" side dish. She wasn't very fond of cooking (which was amazing for someone with six kids!), but this one was one of her best. What are your favorites?
I hope you and yours have a healthy and joyful weekend.
Yours in Notre Dame,
