Since 1930, Notre Dame Stadium has served as the University’s central gathering place, if not necessarily as its spiritual center. Still, the House That Rockne Built has heard its fair share of prayers in its 94 years as congregations of the Fighting Irish faithful fill the bleachers for six Saturdays each fall.
The stadium’s status as a campus hub was solidified with the 2017 completion of the Campus Crossroads Project. This renovation and expansion effort brought improvements to the stadium’s function as a world-class athletics facility as well as the dedication of three new campus buildings: Duncan Student Center to the west, O’Neill Hall to the south, and Corbett Family Hall to the east.
The result is a symbiotic combination of academics, athletics, and student life, making Notre Dame Stadium a year-round destination for students, faculty, staff, and visitors alike. It is a nucleus that stands as a testament to the University’s commitment to educate the mind, body, and spirit for service to the world.
At Notre Dame, the development of the whole person is grounded in community. We can find this community in many places — be it in a classroom, café, studio, or seat at the goal line — but no matter where it may be found, it is in these places we come to know and experience God.
