JUNE 2024
The Lead

Dear Alumni, Parents, and Friends,

It’s been just about three weeks and I still can’t stop thinking about Reunion 2024. This year marked the 40-year celebration for me and my 1984 classmates, but even if it weren’t my own Reunion, it was one to remember. From the opening reception to the closing breakfast, there was something for everyone: fun photo ops and entertainment; alumni education panels and workshops featuring topics like democracy and the “God, Country, Notre Dame” ethos; intimate and thoughtful class masses and dinners; and even a chance to flex your ND knowledge for prizes inside the Shamrock Shuttle!

Staying in the residence halls was a real highlight for me. I stayed in Johnson Family Hall with the rest of my class, and it was almost like being transported back in time. The greatest moments were early in the mornings or late at night when we’d stay up after everything else had closed down. We shared stories of our lives since graduation and danced the night away to songs we used to dance to at Senior Bar. It was incredible to see my 391 classmates who returned to break the 40-year class attendance record. We’ll have to do better to beat the 50-year class record set by the 441 members of the Class of 1974 — but we’ve got 10 years to organize!

I would say it was an unbeatable weekend, but if you know anything about our Alumni Association staff, it’s their commitment to consistently providing unmatched experiences for our alumni, parents, and friends. So if your class year ends in a 0 or 5, we're already counting down the days til we see you back on campus … Reunion 2025 will be here before we know it!

All the best,

Finding Home

When she enrolled in college to become a doctor, Kisa Matlin ’17 never anticipated that she would find a home in teaching. She also never anticipated publishing a children’s book in Japan that depicted her grandfather’s experience during Pearl Harbor.
