REST IN PEACE POPE FRANCIS

YOU WERE A BEACON OF HOPE FOR ALL

Statement from University President Rev. Robert A. Dowd, C.S.C., on the passing of Pope Francis | News | Notre Dame News | University of Notre Dame

MEET CARDINAL KEVIN FARRELL

Cardinal Farrell holds both an MBA Degree and an Honorary Doctorate from Notre Dame

SPECIAL NOTE

The Funeral for Pope Francis will air live this Saturday morning, April 26, at 2:00 a.m. Denver time on NBC

Role of the Camerlengo

The Camerlengo is one of only a few major officials of the Roman Curia who does not lose his office while the papacy is vacant. The Camerlengo, whose role is regulated by the 1996 document Universi Dominici Gregis and the 2022 apostolic constitution Praedicate Evangelium, administers Church finances and property during the interregnum.

The Camerlengo is also responsible for notifying the Cardinal Vicar for Rome of the Pope’s death. The Cardinal Vicar then notifies the people of Rome by special announcement. The Camerlengo takes possession of the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican and the Palaces of the Lateran and of Castel Gandolfo and manages their administration. As Pope Francis resided in the Casa Santa Marta in Vatican City and not the Apostolic Palace, the Camerlengo will also be required to take possession and seal those quarters as well for the duration of the Sede Vacante, Latin for the See Being Vacant.

How the 2025 ND DAY Competition works:

  • It's all about having the highest # of unique donors!
  • We win additional prize money the higher the number of unique donors.
  • We ask married couples to give once. This will count as one unique donor.

About Denver's Bishop Evans Scholarship Fund (BESF)

  • ND DAY is our Club's largest BESF Fundraiser!
  • For 50 years, the BESF has distributed scholarships to deserving ND Denver area students who demonstrate financial need and has awarded $1M+ in scholarships.
  • Over 70% of ND students receive some type of financial assistance.
  • Help us win this for our Notre Dame students!

History of NDCD in the ND Day "Giving Race"

  • Denver has won the Clubs’ Content previously. In 2024, the Indianapolis Club edged us out from the win in the last few hours.
