BRING: Money for the traditional door prizes, and a designated Domer-driver; those $1 off 22-ounce drafts for our club don’t drink themselves!

LIGHT RAIL: Three blocks from Union Station! Several people, including seniors, have commented that the walk from Union Station to Tom’s Watch Bar is very easy:

And now for the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech:

IRISH NEWS

From a news standpoint, it was a big week for the Irish, both good and bad. Starting cornerback Benjamin Morrison was ruled out for the season with a hip injury. He will have surgery and will not be back to Notre Dame. Since he is projected to be at least a second-round NFL pick after the season, he has likely played his last game for the Irish.

That said, true freshman Leonard Moore has been playing at a very high level and is expected to step into Morrison’s shoes with little drop-off. That said, depth is becoming a huge issue at cornerback.

You may also have heard that we had lost a big recruit to Auburn – Mississippi quarterback Deuce Knight – a couple of weeks ago. Well, we were able to flip a quarterback from Clemson this week named Blake Hebert (“Ay-bear?” “Hee-birt?” “Hay-bert?” I will follow up and get back to you). He is a high three-star or low four start QB.

We also picked up a four-star offensive lineman who ought to be quite good.

CHEERS TO 100 YEARS!

IT WAS AN AWESOME UNIVERSAL NOTRE DAME CELEBRATION!

Nearly 100 people joined together in the great Notre Dame Club of Denver style and to welcome two time National Championship and Baumer Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kevin Corrigan. Past Lacrosse players and even a bagpiper joined in the celebration.

We also celebrated four of our Club’s Quiet Heroes - Kate Murphy, Mike Boone, Bill Clifford and Lori Christensen.

Kate Murphy - for her generosity in hosting newly admitted student receptions for years on behalf of the Club

Mike Boone - for his leadership of Senior Alumni both locally within the NDCD and nationally as a member of the Notre Dame Senior Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Bill Clifford - for his long term leadership of Huddle Networking and Career Connections and countless other activities.

Lori Christiansen - for her tremendous dedication to and unmatched effort for the Notre Dame students who worked and lived in Denver during their summer service learning projects via Our Lady's Center for Social Concerns. Lori housed them, fed them, loved on them, drove them all around our great state of Colorado and created a safe space for them while they worked and studied in their service learning. Lori also helped to revitalize our Notre Dame Women Connect chapter here in Denver and has been tireless in her dedication to the Club's Catholic and Christian spirituality efforts.

The Club honored and celebrated David Bruton, Jr. for his commitment to being a Force for Good through his non profit Bruton’s Books.

Finally, we have now created a special Club Award to recognize and celebrate persons who have demonstrated consistent and long term service to our great Club. This Award will be known as the John Studebaker Distinguished Service Award. This Award shall be given to a member of the Notre Dame Club of Denver from time to time who demonstrates sustained and dedicated service to the Notre Dame Club of Denver and the Denver Community.

Special thanks to Coach Corrigan for coming out to Denver to help say Cheers to 100 Years!

Finally, thanks to the Club’s Officers and Directors for planning and hosting this terrific evening.

IRISH FOOTBALL LORE - THE FOUR HORSEMEN

100 YEARS AGO THIS FRIDAY

Sportswriter Grantland Rice, writing for the New York Herald, gave the 1924 Notre Dame backfield football immortality and is responsible for them being the most famous backfield in football history. Reporting on Notre Dame's upset over a strong Army team, Rice penned the greatest football game lead ever:

"Outlined against a blue-gray October sky the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore they are known as famine, pestilence, destruction and death. These are only aliases. Their real names are: Stuhldreher, Miller, Crowley and Layden. They formed the crest of the South Bend cyclone before which another fighting Army team was swept over the precipice at the Polo Grounds this afternoon as 55,000 spectators peered down upon the bewildering panorama spread out upon the green plain below."

— Grantland Rice, October 18, 1924

The 1924 Notre Dame team coached by Knute Rockne finished the season 10-0 and was recognized as National Champions.
