LET’S ROOT ON THE IRISH - BEAT THE CARDINAL
THE BATTLE FOR THE LEGENDS TROPHY
As its name suggests, the Legends Trophy is named after the teams’ meeting in the 1925 Rose Bowl, which was said to host more legends on one field than any other game. This was the Fighting Irish’s first trip to California, and they got there by train. In a game with players including the Four Horsemen (Jim Crowley, Don Miller, Elmer Layden, and Harry Stuhldreher), Notre Dame topped Stanford 27-10. It was Notre Dame’s first national championship.
The Notre Dame Club of the San Francisco Bay area created the trophy with nods to both teams — an Irish crystal bowl and Northern California redwood.

Kick off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Denver time. See you at Tom’s on Saturday.
Please arrive 20 to 30 minutes before kickoff so that the staff can get our dedicated space turned over from prior patrons. Our dedicated space at Tom's does not open until 15 minutes prior to ND kickoff time. Also our space is open seating so you may be sharing a long table or a high top with fellow Irish fans! We do have a drink special - $1 off on all beers during our game watch time. Please ask your server when you order!
WEEKLY PROGNOSTICATION FROM BILL WEBB, ‘88BA,’92JD - OUR VERY OWN WIZARD OF ALL THINGS NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL

WHO: Stanford at AP#11 Notre Dame (Notre Dame Stadium, cap. 77,622)
WHEN: Saturday, October 12, 1:30 p.m.
WHERE: Tom’s Watch Bar, 1601 19th Street, Unit 101 Denver, CO 80202
TELEVISION: NBC
PARKING: Good news! We have made it easier (and cheaper) for you to park. The parking garage immediately across the street is 1899 Wynkoop Street. If you want to park there, see these detailed instructions; it is necessary to follow the instructions to get a discounted rate. You can also reserve and pay for a spot right now on the Spot Hero app, which is a really impressive piece of technology. (Atrium is not on the app, so I park at the Dairy Block Garage, a block away.)
BRING: Money for the traditional door prizes, and a designated Domer-driver; those $1 off 22-ounce drafts for our club don’t drink themselves!
LIGHT RAIL: three blocks from Union Station! Several people, including seniors, have commented that the walk from Union Station to Tom’s Watch Bar is very easy:

Stanford is not very good this year, but they always play Notre Dame tough, even when they are outgunned. Also, we lost to Northern Illinois, so look for a hard-hitting game.
The best I can do is to tell you some things to look for. It will still be an interesting game, and worth watching, for sure.
On defense, Stanford is good against the run, but weak against the pass. Offensively, Notre Dame has a great running game, but their passing game has not been their strength. So, it will be interesting to see how this plays out during the game. Does Notre Dame’s offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock try to exploit Stanford’s porous pass defense? Or try to establish a foothold by running the ball? I would look for a combination of both.
