There's a Notre Dame graduate in the room where it happens. Every night. Patrick Vassel, who acted in and directed productions as a student, is now associate director of the Broadway hit Hamilton. He's been at more than 200 performances of the show, taking notes on performances and working closely with the cast, crew, and creative team. Read more

at Notre Dame film festival in LA

For a talented group of students and young alumni, the dream of seeing their work screened at a Los Angeles film festival was realized this summer. Hosted by the College of Arts and Letters at the Directors Guild of America Theatre, the event featured a showcase of student films and offered an opportunity to network with veterans of the entertainment industry. Two faculty members honored for
career contributions to department

Two former chairs who were instrumental in the development of the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre are taking their final bows this year. Mark Pilkinton expanded the department in the 1980s and pushed for the building of the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, while Donald Crafton unified the department and expanded it to include film and television studies. Kelly Quinn and Caroline Clark's student film about conspiracy theorists, Patrolling Sandy Hook, has been featured in 12 film festivals around the country and won a host of honors. But they aren't the FTT program's only success story when it comes to documentaries. They're continuing a tradition of excellence that includes multiple acclaimed filmmakers. Read more
